If my mail server crashes, do I loose all the mail which was stored
on it or does the backup mail server keep a copy of all existing mail?

The backup mail service is designed to store new incoming mail temporarily
while your actual mail server is down (see Mail
Backup for details). It does not backup mail already stored in a POP/IMAP
mail account on a mail server.
If you need to increase the reliability of your mail server besides Mail
Backup, use our Mail Routing Service.
With this service you can route all incoming mail to multiple mailboxes
and thus create a true backup for all your mail. You may for instance
use an additional mail server for true mail backup or sign up to a Yahoo
account which you might then use, whenever your primary mail server is
not available.
