Background | Objectives | Vision | Management | The Brand

The background which influenced the Organization to form this Co-operative society  has led the present Executive Body to evolve a new vision to make these Pashm, Yak Pashm, Byang Tsm (sheep wool) growing nomadic herdsmen of Rupsho  and 3000 Ngari Tibetan refugees and poor weaving/ artisan communities of tribal district of Kinnaur, Lahoul & Spiti, Chamba and Kullu in Himachal Pradesh self-reliant. The vision is to look holistically on all issues relating to socio-economic and cultural aspects of these people living in the Western Himalayas. It has been thought to introduce viable employment opportunities and better market interventions to replace traders and intermediaries so better wages could be generated. The life and accident insurance coverage with health packages are also to be introduced.

The vision of the Society is to keep old traditions alive with better market and infrastructural interventions where the practitioners of these traditions may earn dignified wages so their migration to the cities for earning alternative livelihood means could be checked. Since, they are the main pillars of the organization, it is our endeavour to envision a dignified life for these poor tribal and downtrodden weavers, so that they can keep alive traditional craft practices. This will enable them to preserve ethnic moorings without getting uprooted from native place.
